In Tenali, India, the Hope for India Project is an effort led by local community members in which ministry leaders offer medical camps to nearby villages and surrounding areas. Impoverished people who need physical checkups, counseling, medication, and, above all, prayer, get help from these leaders.

For people living with AIDS in India, treatment is not available in hospitals. Therefore, the only method of receiving care is through medical camps. The Hope for India Project focuses a significant amount of its resources to education about HIV and AIDS, specifically how HIV is contracted, precautions for safety, and better awareness of the devastating epidemic.

When people are educated and empowered, they are better able to care for themselves and others. body. For children left without parents because of HIV or AIDS, an orphanage is maintained as a safe haven. However, this orphanage also welcomes children who are physically disabled, as well as those orphaned by other horrible events. Currently, 50 children call the orphanage home. Providing safe, clean water for the people of Tenali reduces infant mortality and disease.

Provisions Through the Eyes of God

In James 1:27, the Lord says, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” Based on God’s command, widows who have experienced affliction also receive assistance. They are visited and given comfort through ongoing attention and care. Clothing, food, medication, hygienic products, and blankets are also provided, along with safe drinking water.

Without the critical outreach of the Hope for India Project, such care as shown through God’s love would not exist. Local workers are also used by God to spread the Gospel, establishing rural churches and conducting seminars and crusades.

In India’s culture, religion has always been extremely important. Most individuals associate with at minimum one religion, with 80% following Hinduism, 13% Islam, and only 2% Christianity. Because Christians in India are a minority and often persecuted, Hope for India Project leaders need a lot of prayer.

In all, leaders have founded seven congregations throughout various regions of the Andra Pradesh state. Of the work done, approximately 90% has been for the tribal and Hindu people in urban slum and rural areas.
